The original MobileRanger system was developed 5 years ago with Rugby BID Co. Ltd. It ran on PDAs and pre-dated the growth in Apps and SmartPhones. It led the field and pushed mobile computing into an area where little IT was used. MobileRanger is still in use today and has proven itself invaluable to a wide range of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).

We plan to develop a contemporary system that meets today's needs of Town Centres and BIDs.

We believe that new features such as:
- Public interfaces to capture comments/incidents
- The ability to capture images, video and sound in relation to incidents
- Close integration with local services and businesses
- Social Media integration
would make a better MobileRanger.

However, our stakeholders will tell us what they want and that is what we will develop. The solution will be configurable by each stakeholder to reflect the data they need to capture.

Why it's a great idea:

Town Centres and BIDs need to justify every penny they spend. Many of the services they provide are not obvious or visible to the businesses they serve. MobileRanger provides accurate up to date records of the activities carried out by Rangers/Wardens often out of hours and out of sight. The Town Centre/BID Management Team can quickly respond to questions about "value for money", "not enough being done" that are raised by businesses and stakeholders.

MobileRanger is an essential tool for any organisation, agency or council committed to improving the community. Not only does it help improve the quality of life for residents and visitors, the information and activities logged can provide shopkeepers, businesses, councils, police forces and agencies with vital feedback about the local area. • Develop initial version and trial with stakeholders
• Launch live version and help desk
• Run a project kick off seminar and identify the lead staeholders
• Run regular review seminars

The stakeholders will drive the design of the system. Savant Limited will host, manage and support the system. The target amount covers the cost of development, hosting, support and maintenance for the first 3 years.
