Tools, equipment and training to facilitate a programme of wellbeing for the whole community, to tackle social isolation and increase physical and mental health

The Wellness Way runs nature-based sessions and groups for the whole community four times a year. These offer opportunities to socialise and connect, learn new skills and enjoy being in nature that is right on their doorstep. We want to purchase equipment to facilitate group experiences for up to 12 people, consisting of a set of kit for each participant with a journal, yoga mat, colouring pens and pencils, a set of walking poles, a number of guide books for species identification and equipment to enable us to have hot refreshments out in the park. We would also like to recruit and train volunteers who can support our sessions by being that extra support for both the leaders and participants. We would like to enable them to use their natural empathy as well as listening skills and mental health awareness.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
During the last 18 months, we've realised just how getting outside and being with nature can benefit us. We know that just spending a few minutes outside can lower our blood pressure and reduce stress. At The Wellness Way CIC we understand the difference reconnecting with nature can make. Mindfulness in Milton Creek is avaible to everyone and our aim is to empower indiviuals, reducing isolation, increasing wellbeing through mindfullness and building community links. By crowdfunding we hope to remove all barriers to these series of workshops. Swale has a high level of deprivation and by eliminating costs to the participants we hope that we will reach those participants that really want and need to attend these workshops.
