This campaign has now ended.

Minchinhampton has a rich and diverse history that we want to celebrate! Sadly, with no where to display items, many artefacts remain boxed up in storage. We think this is a real shame. Minchinhampton's new history trail will bring the past back to life! The family friendly, accessible route will weave around the town centre using ten local businesses as stops along the way. At each location there will be large display boards and key artefacts, depicting a key theme from Minchinhampton's past. We love the idea of creating a trail through Minchinhampton's beautiful town centre! It will become a valuable cultural asset that will bring together many different strands of the community, What a fantastic way to shout out about how amazing our town is!

What we'll deliver:

  • A new history trail in Minchinhampton.
  • 10 display boards depicting key themes from Minchinhampton's past.
  • Interactive printed trail guides and maps.
  • A new, state of the art website for Minchinhampton's Local History Group.

Why it's a great idea:

The proposed Minchinhampton History Trail brings together a wide variety of local businesses and organisations, including the Church, library, butchers, various shops, pub, coffee houses and sports club, all of which see the trail as a great opportunity to improve footfall and generate more business. This in turn will help to imrpove the vitality of the town centre and improve the local economy. The trail will also boost tourism, which again, will improve the local economy and increase footfall within the town centre. It is hoped that local residents will also engage with the trail. The trail has grand ambitions to improve the vitality of the town centre by helping to improve it's cultural assets.

Steps to get it done:

  • Trail launch event
