Following the COVID-19 crisis, it is now more important than ever that we support our local community. We want to stimulate local businesses and particularly support those that have been impacted by the lockdown. We also wish to help those local residents, many of them local business owners, whose income has been affected during this period. The Maghull Community Card allows us to do both of these things, and:- - Will encourage local residents to shop in the local area, stimulating the area’s economy. - Create local jobs. More local shopping means more jobs for our community. - Improve the local environment – local shopping means less transportation costs and fewer miles covered by shoppers in cars. - Support the area. More businesses, and the income that generates for the council, will benefit all of us. Keeping our money local is best for our local economy!

Why it's a great idea:
As we all know, the COVID19 pandemic has affected whole community. Local business have been impacted on their trading and many residents have had to watch their budget. Our own research shows that 100% of local residents surveyed are concerned about the impact of the pandemic on local business. Our idea, the Maghull Community Card aims to encourage use of local businesses. Shop local, support local businesses, and save your money whilst doing so! Jobs in the local area are important to everyone. A thriving town centre means more jobs for our residents. A nicer town centre is something all of us can enjoy! Our own research in the local community shows that 97% of those surveyed would welcome an initiative that was designed to support local businesses whilst also providing a discount for local residents using those businesses. 100% welcomed a scheme designed to support Maghull Town Centre keeping it busy and vibrant and 88% welcome a platform to advertise and promote local trade.

VolunteerMaghull Community Card is a social initiative started in 2020 by Liam Stoddart and Mike Evans who live in Maghull. The Card is designed to support local businesses in the Maghull area following the Coronavirus pandemic, by encouraging residents and other businesses to 'buy local', and support their local economy.
Project Owner: Maghull Community Card The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
