I would like to host this local event in a local park for children during the summer holidays. This is an opportunity to engage children in the arts, education and community. The arts community is at risk due to cuts especially in education we need to work together to make sure that our children of the future experience the love and passion we all share for the creative industries. I would like to host an all day event with local council volunteers and creative professionals for children that are mesmerised by their ipads and playstations. Open their minds and imaginations, make a virtual experience reality. The day would include drama workshops, arts and crafts, healthy food tasting, acting, dancing, singing and a fantastic mad hatters tea party, with the idea of using local resources from market stool, shops and restaurants to create the most wackiest and bizarre tea party ever known. Lets bring the Community and Arts togther
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This is a great idea because I work with young children and I previously worked in a primary school as a Literacy tutor for 3 years and I noticed the same thing everywhere 'technology addiction'. There are 6 year olds with iphones, there is obesity among children and there is lack of engagement. This isn't how we lived our childhoods and I'm not even that old, there needs to be a change. Drama teaches children compassion, how to use their imaginations to the fullest and confidence. I'm not saying that technology is a bad thing but there needs to be a healthy balance just like with most things. Due to worrying government cuts in the arts we need to make sure that it continues to live on and help our children, ALL children particularly those from low income families. Everyone deserves an opportunity in life and will aim to continue and expand after this project.
Steps to get it done:
Art is a delightful way through which you can record the development of your child’s growth. Just as you will notice that writing and reading improves with age, so does artwork. The role of parents and teachers is to expose children to a variety of materials so that they can create art. Once the variety is offered, children will then have a choice as to whether they want to use the materials or not. But without the exposure, there is no choice. Creating art is a fine way for children to make choices and solve problems. Every step involves making a decision: what color to use, how to make a line, what size to make something. With every choice the object becomes more and more their own. Everyone has an imagination. Art takes it a step further. Through art, children create something that, until that point, was only imagined. Thus, they create visual manifestations of abstract ideas. Art is a means of communicating ideas, feelings, and solutions in a way other than verbally or written
