Love Wavertree is a community campaign for positive action working with, of and for the people of Wavertree, Liverpool. We are an independent collective of local residents and community groups who have come together with one overarching thing in common: We Love Wavertree. Recently, a charity shop on the high street has had to close. We have been approached by the landlord to see if we would be willing to take this on - to keep it operating and ensure it stays as a part of the community. Through conversations, we know that the shop closing will be a huge loss to the volunteers and the community. We want to make a meaningful contribution to the community, so we want to reopen the charity shop as 'reLOVEd WAVERTREE' a charity shop and community hub, with all profits being reinvested into Wavertree. We believe this is a natural step for or campaign to help support the high street regeneration. Help us bring reLOVEd Wavertree to life!

What we'll deliver:

  • A community hub for Wavertree
  • A reopened shop as a place for people to volunteer
  • A one stop shop to deliver activities and services for the community

Why it's a great idea:

According to the charity, Power to Change 'communities themselves can revitalise their own high streets' https://www.powertochange.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/PCT_3619_High_Street_Pamphlet_FINAL_LR.pdf What is the benefit is us doing this? High street across the country are facing a challenging time. We want Wavertree High Street to ultimately, high streets are places for us to congregate, to interact, to do business but also to live our lives together. We want 'reLOVEd WAVERTREE' to play a part.

Steps to get it done:

  • 1st July - Deposit paid to secure the site
  • 1st September opening to the community!
