The Longest Day is a new music festival providing a full day of music and entertainment in the best event locations in the Cleckheaton Area, showcasing young and upcoming musicians and artists from the area and finishing off with amazing well known bands. The event promotes youth and new music and provides and fantasic opportunity for up and coming artists to play in a professional music festival alongside seasoned professionals. We will be utilising large venues and smaller more intimate performance areas, allowing for a breadth of talented artists to perform. We work with young people and the community to make this an amazing event open to all and providing a fantistic opportunity to shine a light on Cleckheaton and what it can offer.

What we'll deliver:

  • Provide a new exciting music festival in the Kirklees area
  • Training and experience in event management for local youth staff
  • Increase spending and interest in the Cleckheaton area
  • Utilise underused event venues in the Cleckheaton Area
  • Enable paid employment of local young artists and musicians
  • Enable the generation of funding for local good causes

Why it's a great idea:

Our festival will provide considerable support to individual, group and regional arts through the promotion of a range of musical artists. It will offer the unique opportunity for members of the local community to engage with a diverse range of arts and culture on their doorstep. The festival will recognise and celebrate the culture of the local area and seek to promote an ethos of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion throughout. The festival will promote positive leisure activity by providing people with the opportunity to engage with their local community in a way that has not been possible for many, for the past few years. During the festival, we expect to attract 800-1000 attendees to the Cleckheaton area. These visitors will be in addition to the typical footfall in Cleckheaton and are likely to come from both the immediate surrounding areas and further afield. We will work responsibly with local businesses and community groups to help them maximise engagement .

Steps to get it done:

  • Booking the headline artists
  • Booking artists for the rest of the event
  • Posting the Festival Line Up
  • Working with local community groups to maximise potential
  • Work with local youth groups on event training prior to the event
  • Run and manage the event
  • Work with venue owners to access the impact of the event during the day
  • Work with local community to assess the impact of the event post event day
  • Look at planning the event for next year taking onboard and comments

We will actively engage local musicians, bands and artists to take part in the event. All performing artists will be paid for their work and will benefit from festival promotion through social media, digital and print outlets. There will also be opportunities for self promotion. There will be increased levels of interaction and communication between members of the public which we hope will lead to increased positive mental health. We hope that this will be a pioneering event in Kirklees that encourages other, similar events in the future. We are committed to the local economy and will always use local traders and businesses when looking at purchasing anything for the event, including advertising, merchandise, catering equipment hire and staffing. Volunteering will be at the heart of our event. Working Chimp Productions has a long history of successfully involving volunteers in the planning and production of events and this one will be no different.
