We have held mini music festivals and this one is going yo be bigger and better. We have chosen to open the library up for a Sunday afternoon early evening to celebrate local music for all ages to enjoy. We have 3 choirs, 6 young singer performers, our own family Ukuelle band, our own Indian tabler drumming group, local steel drumming. All this will lead to our grand finale Ska Band. There will be other rooms in use with workshop throughout the afternoon, from children's crafts, rhythm and rhyme for the very young, children's film club and performance from Thimblemill libraries children's showcase choir. All and more in this lovely little Art Deco library

What we'll deliver:

  • We will hold a free music festival for the local community
  • We will offer free music workshops to all
  • We will offer local business a space to sell their merchandise

Why it's a great idea:

Thimblemill library is situated in Smethwick that is part of Sandwell in the West Midlands. Thimblemill library is a fabulous space where we offer a variety of live music and theatre and all the friends of Thimblemill library are very passionate about bringing live arts to all to enjoy cheaply or free

Steps to get it done:

  • Young volunteers from the local high schools
  • Working with friends of the library
  • Working with library volunteers

Live@Thimblemill library Our Big Gig is taking place on Sunday 12th July 3pm-7.30pm at Thimblemill library, Thimblemill road, Smethwick, West Midlands B676HU
