This project is aimed at children and their families. To meet regularly in groups, to litterpick, and socialise in teams. Clearing parks, woodland, and green spaces of litter. Litter causes many problems for the local residents, and more so the wildlife. We will also plan trips to beaches to litterpick, clearing up beaches of plastic pollution, which is a massive danger to wildlife. This project will give children a great outdoor hobby, make new friends, gain a sense of purpose. This initiative gets children off of phones, bonding with family all away from distractions at home, it will boost relationships and mental wellbeing. Many children long to be part of a team, but some feel they're not good enough for sports, so they don't bother, this hobby is physical too, we clock around 2000 steps in just a 30 minute litterpick.

What we'll deliver:

  • Purchase 500 bin liners
  • Purchase 200 litterpickers
  • Purchase 200 HiVis vests
  • Purchase 200 Safety gloves
  • Purchase 50 Litterpick hoops

Why it's a great idea:

Benefits to the wildlife, litter removed from their natural habitat won't be causing them any danger any longer. Benefits to members mental health and wellbeing, they'll feel proud and a sense of pride. Socialising, being outdoors, doing good, physical movement and fresh air, all contributes to boosting children's mental health. Making new friends, children will have a more diverse group of friendships. Friends outside of school are important, gaining the skills to socialise away from school, gaining confidence, is important in growing as a child and they're skills they'll take on into adulthood. Cleaner green spaces, parks and woodland will benefit the local community. Their walks will be far more pleasant in a litter free space, visually the areas will look far more appealing and be more enjoyable.
