To add a large indoor social space to an existing club building. A bright and modern area for juniors and adults to mix before and after sport and a community meeting place in a rural setting.

Although Leyland Warriors have been established 30 years, their facilities are limited to changing areas and toilets. Older youth teams and adult teams have moved elsewhere due to there being no indoor space to meet before and after sport or to hold meetings or community events. This causes in connections and friendships not being formed as participants have no reason to stay on site and mix. The project would add a bright, modern, heated indoor space so that visiting and home players can relax before and after sport, shelter from the elements and socialise with one another. The project allows the club to rebuild previously successful youth and adult sections, including both mens and womens teams, with the promise of improved facilities. It would mean that visiting teams and adults stay on site longer and appreciate the area surrounding the club which has many local woodlands and paths. It would also mean that club committee meetings can be held on site.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The project will make participation in sport more fun and accessible to local people. This in turn provides health and wellbeing benefits, a sense of connection with the community and pride in representation. By adding a building that encourages people to remain on the site allows them to enjoy the semi-rural parkland outlook of the club buildings leading onto woodland and river walks. The facility will provide a meeting space for both club members and visitors to relax and shelter indoors whether participants, parenting junior participants, supporters or simply local people wishing to perhaps enjoy a drink and shelter somewhere pleasant. It will also allow for formal meetings to be held locally rather than in pubs some distance away in an area with ample parking and opportunities for walks amongst nature, dog walking, horse riding or viewing the rugby being played on the adjacent pitches. It will allow youngsters to be served food indoors rather than outside in all weather.
Steps to get it done:
Since Covid the impact of participants in sport, particularly amongst older youth age groups and adults, has been dramatic with many not returning to sport and the resultant low numbers causing even willing participants to have no access to sport. This project aims to reverse that trend by providing a bright and vibrant community space for all ages to enjoy spending time in one another's company It encourages people to remain in a club environment after sport by having a warm and safe indoor space to mix and socialise. It provides a safe meeting space to allow club and community groups to share ideas and plan improvements. There are so many benefits to make the venture worthwhile that we believe it is worthy of support and justify the effort getting the project off the ground.
