Touring dance productions for schools

Let's All Dance By Let's All Dance

A touring dance production of A Teddy Bears' Picnic, specifically for 0-7 year old.

pledged of £4,980

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Since 2013 we have been touring dance productions to schools, libraries and theatres. We constantly strive to make theatre accessible to all, whatever their economic circumstances. To cover pre-production costs, dancers' and stage managers' fees, travel expenses, admin costs and running costs we normally charge schools £450. All schools like to treat their children at Christmas time but with education budgets getting tighter and tighter, schools and nurseries often can't afford to book live shows any more. We would, therefore, like to raise funding to allow us to take our production of Teddy Bears' Picnic into schools and nurseries free of charge. Our teddies would love you to join them as they eat, dance, play and have fun! Little ones can bring their own teddy, clap along and have their photo taken with the dancers! Running time: 30 mins + photo opportunity Suitable for all, especially 0 – 7 years, children with special needs, families and nurseries

What we'll deliver:

  • Take this proud ion directly into schools and nurseries.
  • To give children the opportunity to enjoy live theatre.
  • To give children the opportunity to meet professional dancers.

Why it's a great idea:

Theatre, particularly theatre for children, fires the imagination. It provides our children with the skills and the creativity necessary to face the world, to understand it and perhaps to change it too. Theatre is vital to the development of children and young people. It develops many skills including creativity, language and communication, self-confidence and social interaction. Theatre also allows children and young people to explore and understand their emotions and feelings. Touring our productions directly into schools enables us to reach and interact with young people who may not come from a theatre going background and may have never seen a live show. We believe passionately that The Arts should be accessible to everyone and not the preserve of an elite, privileged group within society. Our professional dance shows are condensed classics or new, engaging works and designed specifically for our young audiences. By exposing children and young people to high quality, live dance

Steps to get it done:

  • Arranging tour dates and venues
  • Audition and hire actors for show
  • Organising travel of actors, creatives and transport of set, costume and props.
  • Pack up and move onto next venue.
  • Rehearse company members for the show
  • Show day, arriving at venue, building set and performing our show
