Let's Go Sing! is a singing project which is delivered by a small Lancashire based team. We write and produce all our material which is then taught in over 100 primary schools in Lancashire. The singing leaders (animateurs) visit each school 3 times and the schools come together across 9 days to perform the songs. Our concerts are held at King Georges Hall, Blackburn which is large enough to accommodate 400 children on stage but small enough for the audience to see their children performing. The project also focuses on teacher training, specifically to help and support teachers with little musical ability or experience to run their own school choirs. We believe this is key to the success of LGS. Teachers enjoy 3 training sessions during the course of the project and their own concert! We often have a waiting list of schools wanting to join in. Financially, the project lives hand to mouth and we are looking to raise funds in order to secure a part time administrator and purchase gear.

What we'll deliver:

  • Engage local composers and writers to create material
  • Hire King George's Hall for 10 days
  • Employ an administrator
  • Purchase computer equipment and two electric pianos

Why it's a great idea:

The benefits of the project are numerous. It provides an invaluable experience for the children. It helps schools fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for music. It provides a regular event and income for King Georges Hall. It provides a unique opportunity for primary school teachers to come together to learn and perform. Our concerts spread a huge amount of joy to all involved. It offers a platform for upcoming composers to showcase their songs. The project is unique to Lancashire, there is nothing like it in the country. It provides employment to local musicians, It benefits the local economy in Blackburn by attracting over 8000 audience members.
