We want to develop a Lend a hand community group to clean up at our local park, known fondly as the Ducky by all, we want to bring local resident volunteers together to clean, repair, paint and remove debri such as weeds/rubbish and generally improve our forever declining green spaces, Community Clean ups show that people who use an area such as the park actually care about its appearance. Then Crime is less likely to occur when a neighbourhood park is clean, well lit, and used more frequently by residents and their friends and families. By reclaiming their community park and upgrading weeds to grass, shrubs to colourful flower beds, remove dumped rubbish to create a space of relaxation & recreation for all to use . We want to involve all ages encourage neighbours to come & work together mowing grass, planting / repairing fences picking up litter, remove rubbish etc. By playing their part they will help to make it more attractive to residents and less attractive to criminal behav
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Community park clean ups statistically show that people who use and reclaim an area that has been left to decline will actually begin to care about its appearance which can also support people coming together. Communities are losing their small green spaces every day due to non-use, they then become a community focal point for all the wrong reasons such as dumping and vandalism & group gatherings that cause the community have issues around anti-social behaviour. our project Lend a hand Larkhill can prove that crime would be less likely to occur when a Community Clean-up done by local residents of their local park they will take pride in their green space and feel that they have achieved a community goal & are actually reclaiming their community space know as the ducky. which in the long term makes the community park safer place for families / residents and community groups to take exercise , leisurely walking groups for therapy, encourage people to start reusing the park .
Steps to get it done:
We will endeavour to work closely with the residents of the community in assessing the Community’s Needs and aspirations for the park, work together in the overall planning to ensure a successful project delivery. Seek out all resources necessary to fulfil the project . be profient when acting on the parks projects plans. ensure that we are nurturing, monitoring, and proficient in evaluating our overall Lend a hand Larkhill park paroject.
