Funding History: Our initial goal was to secure £10,000 of match funding through a crowd funding campaign to unlock an additional £30,000 from Entrust. Despite successfully obtaining the match funding, the redirection of funds to pandemic relief efforts prevented us from unlocking the full amount. We acknowledge your continued support and patience during this process. Current Status and Vision: In light of the evolving pandemic landscape and changing community perspectives, we revisited the project in 2022 through another questionnaire. The results reaffirmed the community's support for the labyrinth, shaping our new five-year plan aligned with the community's vision. Next Steps and Funding Requirement: With a clear vision, we initiated the tendering process based on the original plans. However, a five-year gap revealed significant changes in materials and pricing. Collaborating with the Healthy Living Team at Cumberland Council, we conducted a topographic survey, incurring costs of over £2,000 from our fundraising events. The new tender process has concluded, and we are now seeking a further £60,000 in funding. We are pleased to share that the Healthy Living Team is generously partnering with us to cover VAT expenses, significantly reducing the financial burden. Project Adjustments: To streamline costs, we have excluded signage, benches, and a centrepiece from the new plans. However, these elements will still be installed as part of the contract. The path will be wheelchair-accessible, and two signage boards at the entrance will provide suggestions on labyrinth use and feature a finger labyrinth for vision-impaired individuals. Environmental Commitment: Our commitment to the environment and conservation is unwavering. The Labyrinth, a landscape and stone path in geometrical shape within turf, not only preserves our vegetation but also is also easily maintained. The Power of a Labyrinth in Nature: A labyrinth in a natural setting offers practical and psychological benefits, including meditation, mindfulness, physical exercise, connection with nature, enhanced creativity, educational opportunities, and community engagement. The environmental benefits include support for biodiversity and local ecosystems. Your Investment Opportunity: We are seeking visionary investors to join us in bringing this transformative project to life. Your support will not only impact the local community but also leave a legacy of wellness, reflection, and togetherness. In light of Cumbria's concerning suicide rates, your contribution aligns with our commitment to mental health and well being. We kindly ask for your support and partnership in this venture. Your investment in the Chances Park Labyrinth Project will not only have a lasting impact on the local community but also leave a legacy of wellness, reflection, and togetherness. Figures released last week shows that Cumbria has the second highest suicide rate in the whole of the UK if we can prevent even one, but hopefully we will be able to help more. Please support us in making this vision a reality.
