Kilallan is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, essentially a church without a roof, in the Renfrwshire countryside. The structure is crumbling and with out urgent remedial works much of this historic structure will be lost to posterity. The works have been specified, agreed with Historic Scotland and tendered. Applications are being made to Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund but more is needed.

If action is not taken this nationally significant site will crumble. We owe it to future generations to pass on our heritage intact.
The educational spin offs will open up new chapters of Scotland's history for school children, students and historians alike.

VolunteerThe Kilallan Kirk Preservation Trust (www.kilallan.org) is a registered charity set up in 2005 to preserve and conserve Kilallan Kirk, 15 miles west of Glasgow. The church dates from the 10th century, but was abandoned in 1771 when two parishes united and the main church was relocated to Houston. Roofless for many years, this scheduled ancient monument has links to the early Christian missionaries from Iona, the Knights Templar and the last witch trials in Scotland.
The Trustees are private individuals with specific links to the church or with specific specialisms. We need to raise £150,000 to preserve the walls and other parts of the structure which are fast decaying. We hope to raise the funds and do the work this summer.
Part of the Trustees work is to improve access to and understanding of the importance of the building and its setting. The location is physically fragile, and our website is designed to encourage access without impact.
