The idea is to convert a double-decker bus into a relaxed learning space equipped with all the technology and facilities for our computer clubs, science and engineering programmes and much more.

We want to convert the upper deck of the double-decker into a mulit-functional learning zone with benches, fittings and fixtures for IT-equipment and storage for chairs, tables and learning resources. We would like to convert the lower deck into a science laboratory and make it fit for disabled access. We want to be able to comply with all the safety and fire regulations and install a fire escape ladder on the upper deck. Our dream bus would have an extendable awning to create extra space for outdoor events when the weather is nice. Our dream bus would also be fitted with solar panels to generate enough energy for the mobile wifi, laptops, projector, coffee machine and fridge.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Sometimes, it is just an opportunity that sets off a person on a certain path into the future. Kidwise creates such opportunities. Opportunities for learning and experiencing new things. Opportunities to raise confidence in academic capability. Our work fights education inequality in less affluent areas. Together with local people, we design relaxed learning spaces, where children & young people can be connected to the world online and can learn together or be supported by a peer tutor and mentor. These learning spaces, called The Learning Hub, have nurtured many of children and young people from London to succeed in their chosen education and to have the confidence to grab new opportunities. With the Learning Bus, we can reach many more.
Steps to get it done:
Steps to get it done: • Scaled detailed drawings of the bus conversion • Making bus ready for conversion • Joinery work completed • Installation of wiring and sockets • Installation of work benches, seating, kitchenette, watertank • Installation of batteries and inverters • Installation of solar panelling • Installation of fire-safety equipment We also have been running a STEM Summer Club and a Crest STEM award programme accredited by the British Science Association with schools. It is a programme where children & young people are set a engineering or science challenge by a company and have 8 weeks to come up with a solution. We would like to offer this to other schools, however not every school has the design & technology facilities. The Learnng Bus would be the solution to this. Also, our computer clubs have become increasingly popular. We want to be able to set up many more. The Learning Bus would be the solution to this.
