Having this facility, with open access, gives local educational facilities access to much needed outdoor space and the opportunity to learn how food grows and to acquire skills in rural activities i.e earth oven building, dry stone walling, lathe pole turning and hedge laying.
This area is unique, close to the town,a journey time of less than five minutes, rural but with access to the beach and woodland. Some young people with learning disabilities find a long journey unbearable and behaviour deteriorates before they have reached their destination, this group need alternative forms of education in order to fulfill their potential.

What we'll deliver:

  • We need to create a space for artistic activities, pot throwing wood carving etc.,
  • We need to re-instate a large pollytunnel so we can teach horticulture.
  • We need to build an earth oven to cook produce grown on site

Why it's a great idea:

Young people need alternative educational opportunities, long term unemployed need the chance to prove their abilities and get back to the work ethic.
This project will promote community cohesion in an area that offers little to the wider community.

Steps to get it done:

  • With on site support and leadership, working together all these ideas are possible!

The interest to date in a project that has hardly got started , to date all work has been to tidy a neglected area with the idea of starting properly in 2013,interest has been fantastic.
This is really needed in this locality !!
