We're here to support local projects that make Hammersmith & Fulham a great place to live!
Our project will be based on our beautiful Wormwood Scrubs. Activities will take place once a week on the green just behind the centre pitch. Activities will be community led. All taking part will have a say in the sports activities taking place weekly. Whether it is a community game of rounders, yoga, football or gentle chair exercises, our community will choose how we keep fit! This project was actually an idea from our Bubble & Squeak kids who wanted to encourage their family members to get healthy again as we come out of lockdown. The idea was developed further to encourage more members of the community to get fit again post Covid. We plan is to widen our reach and increase community cohesion to reduce isolation. Those taking part will build levels of fitness therefore improve health while also improving mental wellbeing. It will start mid July & run throughout the summer with the aim of the group continuing to engage in physical activities once the project is complete.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Many of us have been less active as a direct result of the Covid pandemic and it isn't our fault. Naturally this will have an effect on our health and wellbeing. As the weather gets better this the perfect opportunity to get back out, have fun with the rest of our community and get active again! This project will be open to all in our local community. Not only will our project help us all get fitter we can also meet up, revive and socialise safely outdoor after long periods of lockdown. Being an intergenerational project, all are welcome! Bubble & Squeak already delivery healthy food boxes through out the community. This new 'get active' programme is any enjoyable way for all to take part in physical activities.
