7 years ago a colleague and myself instigated a fanciful idea of looking after the nearly 3 acres of grassed open spaces that surround our development. The Development has 101 private houses on it, however, where we live in Denby Dale, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, has over a thousand homes. The open spaces in question are available for all people to use for dog walking, socialising and children playing games, (the area has a children’s play area too). It has proved to be an invaluable over the covid period. The reason why we were motivated by such an idea was that we have a beautiful entrance to our development, all of the open spaces belong to the local council who, now due to severe financial cuts, would be unable to maintain the area to the standard it now is. We initially obtained a small grant and the council did provide a sit on mower for us to use, this machine is now 8 years old and failing, hence the requirement to replace it in order to continue our good works.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
A safe and beautifully maintained area for local people to enjoy. This has been an invaluable area utilised by hundreds of people and children during the covid situation. It has provided a safe area for picnics, games and socialising alike.
