I am funded through Active Essex to provide girls' after school rugby clubs to six secondary schools in Maldon, Tiptree, Witham and Chelmsford. There is a huge amount of interest in the services I provide which also include taking specialised rugby PE lesson but the funding is running out and I need the services of another coach to sustain and expand while keeping the service free at the point of delivery to cash strapped schools. I have a track record of taking school players and helping their local club set up and populate age grade sides.
What we'll deliver:
- Acknowledge all funders on my website.
- Provide a team building session for company
Why it's a great idea:
Schools are short on funds and rugby is a sport best taught by qualified coaches.
It has largely been the case that girls rugby has been overlooked by schools for various reasons. I have proven that it is not because girls don't want to play rugby.
However, in order for schools to accept dedicated girls rugby coaching I have found that they are only willing to do so if it doesn't take funds from the core or traditional sports such as netball.
Many girls will miss out on this great opportunity if I cannot find ways of sustaining and expanding this free-at-point-of-delivery service as funding is drying up.
Steps to get it done:
- Sustaining current clubs beyond 2016/17 season.
- Expanding in to new schools for the 2017/18 school year/rugby season
