Just Jerseys Community Micro Dairy

Just Jerseys By Just Jerseys

Creating a Traditional Mobile Micro Dairy with 10+ Pedigree Jersey Cows producing fresh quality milk daily. Supporting our local community through a vending machine/deliveries in Eco GLASS Bottles

Newnham Bridge Delivery stage

pledged of £46,192

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Just Jerseys Micro Dairy is small scale family farming of yesteryear. Using traditional low input farming methods, grass fed in spring & summer and hay in winter. Helping lower our carbon footprint is key. Our girls will have 'Calf at Foot' calves stay with the mum. Less stress on mum and baby. Our Micro Dairy of 10+ Pedigree Jersey cows will provide our community and beyond with quality fresh Jersey milk every day via our vending machine conveniently located near our pastures. The girls are milked twice a day using a mobile milking machine in the field where they graze and pasteurised using our mobile micro dairy. The milk will be available in environmentally friendly glass bottles, you will pour your own milk into your bottle from the vending machine or even bring your own jug! We are hugely excited to offer children a delicious Just Jerseys Milkshake from our Mooshake bar, available at the vending machine area A bespoke delivery service for the vulnerable and elderly.

What we'll deliver:

  • A Micro Dairy and Pasteurising mobile catering unit - Suitable to go to where the cows are
  • A small herd of Pedigree grass fed Jersey Cows - From an outstanding Pedigree Herd which goes back decades from Jersey
  • A conveniently situated milk and bottle vending machine serving our community.
  • Milkshake Bar with Optics
  • Identifying and supporting the vulnerable along side our local Foodbank. Serving our community with delivery
  • Keeping small scale traditional British farming practices sustainable & alive
  • Part-time Job opportunities - We will provide a further 2 + Jobs for local people
  • Welcoming families and School children to view our Jersey girls and really feel part of the Micro Dairy
  • Just Jerseys weekly hub - Going into communities at a convenient meeting point and public can collect their milk
  • Make available Fresh Jersey Milk every day unlike 'shop bought' which can take 2 weeks to reach your fridge

Why it's a great idea:

Buying from 'farm gate' is a win win combination. Our aim - To serve our community with our quality daily fresh milk. To invite them to our micro dairy and embrace traditional/sustainable farming once again. Showing our children where and how our food reaches our plates is so important. It is now more than ever before, we need to support local business and our great British Farming Industry. By doing this we can build a thriving community and support each other as we emerge from this challenging time. Buying local you are lowering your own and our carbon footprint. You are aiding economic regeneration, providing jobs thus improving mental health & well-being. . Just Jerseys will assist our local food bank in Tenbury Wells with donations to highlight the outstanding work they continue to do. * Daily quality Jersey fresh Milk * Eco-friendly - No plastic only glass bottles * Lower Carbon Footprint - no slurry handling * Easily accessible 24/7 * Delivery Service * Weekly Meet

Steps to get it done:

  • Buying the Catering Box Trailer, conversion completed
  • Purchasing the Pasteurising Equipment and bulk tank
  • Relevant permissions from Food Standards etc
  • Installing Vending Machine and Milkshake Bar Optics in Wooden Shed
  • Delivery of the cows
  • Stocking the Vending Machine, ready to serve our community

Since the Pandemic began in 2020 it quickly became apparent that staying local, shopping local, taking care of our local community was highly visible across the country. Donations, food parcels, prescriptions collected, we all helped someone if not many in our community. The world stopped, took a breath and really became more aware of our communities, perhaps some not realizing what was available on our doorsteps. We want to go the extra mile so your Milk doesn't have to.. Using our glass bottles instead of plastic, will make a noticeable difference not only the obvious - recycling but carrying heavy milk in shopping bags home, really can be a problem for some. Both our carbon footprints with be lowered and we can be proud that we are all playing a part in saving our beautiful planet for generations to come. Serving yourself from our Vending Machine and Milkshake Bar with fresh Milk Daily.
