As we celebrate 70 years of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II reign, Theatre in the Quarter will commission and produce a brand new and exciting multi-generational project for and with the people of Cheshire West. The project will connect our young people with the generation who remember The Queen’s accession to the throne; a project filled with sharing of thoughts and ideas, memories and dreams, which will culminate in a ground-breaking short film with new songs. The film will be premiered as a key element of the borough’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration Weekend in June 2022. See our short campaign film - https://youtu.be/H6OKJj4IkoQ

What we'll deliver:

  • Hiring of artistic team including director, composer, choreographer and design
  • Hiring of Film and Sound company, including editing
  • Project management, safeguarding, covid officer and marketing costs

Why it's a great idea:

The forthcoming Jubilee offers the perfect opportunity for our diverse communities and generations to celebrate togetherness. With a legacy of previous memorable projects, Theatre in the Quarter will encourage people who may not normally communicate with each other to question, answer, debate, talk, laugh, cry, remember, sing, dance and celebrate by making a new inspirational and powerful film together Our principal aims are: • to find an exciting and innovative way for the borough to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee as a whole community • to engage and excite a group of young people of different backgrounds and abilities into being positive ambassadors for their generation • to create a participant-led project which delivers a positive and hopeful message • to promote well-being and reduce the sense of isolation amongst members of a generation who may have suffered more severely under covid-19 restrictions

Steps to get it done:

  • January 2022 - Teenagers prepare story collecting sessions. Story collecting sessions take place
  • February 2022 - scriptwriting, devising, rehearsing. First sessions in schools. 'Grandparent' choir formed
  • March/April 2022 - recording, filming period. Event plans RAs for screening
  • April/May 2022 Final cuts and Full edit period
  • June 2022 General release of film
  • July 2022 Evaluation period begins

The project will have a huge impact on well-being of a diverse range of communities, it will promote a great sense of pride, and foster a much needed better understanding between generations.
