This project was funded on 29 May 2018!

Not everyone has access to a garden, or the time and energy to work a plot on their own. We want to share the gardening experience with members of the local community. We plan to hold several open days over the summer where people can come for an hour or two, either to work or just or just to watch and chat. As well as gardening, we'll offer sessions on jam, pickle and soup making. Gardening offers to much. It exercises our bodies and soothes our minds. Working with the seasons and the weather helps us to fund our place in nature; working with other people, sharing our knowledge, gives us a sense of common purpose. It's lovely to taste freshly-picked vegetables and fruit that we have helped to grow.

What we'll deliver:

  • Buy more hand tools so more people can get involved
  • Buy folding chairs and camping toilet
  • Organise a trip to Thrive Garden in Battersea - www.thrive.org.uk
  • Organise a trip to Kew Gardens

Why it's a great idea:

This projects supports people with their health and well-being. It encourages gentle exercise and healthy eating. Isolation and loneliness is on the rise in the UK, and our allotment gives people the chance to meet socially in a relaxed setting.

Steps to get it done:

  • Buy tools and equipment in June 2018
  • Visit Thrive in July 2018
  • Visit Kew in August 2018
  • Jam and pickle making sessions in September 2018
  • Harvest meal in October 2018
