3rd Shoreham Sea Scouts are wishing to modernise the toilet and shower facilities, including facilities with suitable disabled access. The current facilities date back to when the building was first built over 40 years ago! 3rd Shoreham Sea Scouts are Shoreham's only Sea Scout group. We are based at the Les Goodbody Centre on Adur Recreation Ground. Our group offers Scouting activities for over one hundred and eighty, 6-18 year olds. It has a particular focus on water activities, including dinghy sailing and paddle sports. The Group currently has over 200 young people registered with the Scout association. Our project would enable us to offer Scouting opportunities more easily to young people with disabilities, as well as providing more adequate facilities for our members and the wider community. 3rd Shoreham Sea Scouts is run entirely by volunteers which enables us to offer affordable opportunities throughout our community. Thank you for supporting our project.

What we'll deliver:

  • Improved disabled access
  • Installation of disabled toilet and showering facilities
  • Refurbished shower and toilet facilities for young people and adults

Why it's a great idea:

Scouting is all about building confidence and self-esteem, learning important life skills and leadership skills, team building, outdoor adventure, education, and fun! Scouts learn how to make good choices and to take responsibility for their actions so that they are prepared for their adult life as independent persons. Scouting is open to all without distinction of origin, race, class, or creed. The modernisation of the HQ facilities assists us in delivering this aim. Thank you for supporting our project.

Steps to get it done:

  • Refurbishment of the ground floor toilets and shower facilities
  • Grand opening of the facilities
