Autism greatly affects social interaction in both children and their families. The fear of being judged pushes them into seclusion. IGC is a community interest company that aims at inclusion.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
We want to hold sessions for both children and their parents in the autism spectrum. This will give the parents a chance to meet and greet with other parents having similar challenges. The kids will get a place to learn and enjoy activities designed to engage them within an environment where they are accepted and encouraged to flourish. This would include sports, arts and crafts, music, creativity and outdoor games. Group sessions and zoom meetings shall be conducted where expert advice can be given to parents who are looking for answers. This gives a platform to everyone in the spectrum to feel included and share their problems. With limited services and long waiting lists, it gets very frustrating for parents and children who tend to lose on precious time. If there are services available for them to during the waiting period, they do not feel helpless and secluded. It makes a huge difference to their mental health and quality of life.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project will bring the families of ASD children come together and learn from each others experiences. It will make them feel included and give them an opportunity to talk about their struggles. Most families are afraid of being around other families for the fear of being judged and because other parents are not very tolerant. For children who have problems with communication and socializing,it is no good for them to get excluded. How can they contribute towards the society or become able citizens when they are not helped. It is much needed that we hold sessions and activities for ASD children giving them a better chance at socialising and becoming active members. They should also get a place to express themselves and be able to enjoy respectfully and within their comfort zone. The number of ASD cases diagnosed are increasing but the help coming towards this is still the same. This is leaving many families frustrated and with no help.
