Unpaid volunteers operate a radar 'gun' at police approved roadside locations to monitor passing vehicles. Those exceeding the road speed limit are reported to Sussex Police for action. The additional sites within the Horsham unparished areas requires further equipment in the form of a 'gun'. As this is comp0letely unfunded, we need donations to enable the additional police approved equipment to be purchased.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Records show that where Speed Watch operates, the average speed of vehicles reduces. Additionally, road injuries may reduce due to Speed Watch operation being unpredictable. Vehicles therefore remain cautious when travelling in the areas known to be active.
Steps to get it done:
Inclusivity within the volunteers is possible with volunteers being able to be seated roadside, and times are flexible.
