The general idea of this project is to offer the inner city children of Liverpool the opportunity to learn how to horse ride at affordable prices. It will also allow adults to take up the sport and those with disabilities. Horse riding is considered a country sport and is not accessible to inner city people due to lack of travel resources. Having a riding school in Sefton park or Wavertree park is central and easily accessible to people in the city. Lessons will be provided in the saddle and in the stables combined. Lessons in stable management will assist to learn clients the day to day of caring for horses and ponies. There will be a variety of different riding lessons which will cater to the individual for example group lessons and private one and one lessons. The aim and ambition of this project is to offer impoverished and underprivileged children in Liverpool the opportunity to learn to horse ride and understand the beauty of horses.

What we'll deliver:

  • Horses and ponies
  • A riding centre with riding arena and stables
  • Local equestrian community

Why it's a great idea:

The benefits I hope the project to bring is offer inner city children the opportunity to learn to horse ride. A sport that is generally thought of as being reserved for the wealthy and country towns. Opening a riding school locally will offer children a focus for after school and on weekends to look after the horses and ponies and build bonds. This project will aid in a way to keep anti social behaviours minimal through riding and caring for the horses. Other benefits will include catering to those with disabilities. Horse riding and care has proven to benefit those with disabilities. The option for adults to come and learn to ride will also be available. Horse riding has proven to be a therapy and aid in helping people wind down from stressful days and weeks at work and life. It’s an exciting and rewarding sport that many will return for more.

Steps to get it done:

  • Buying the horses and ponies
  • Buying the stables
  • Building the riding arena
