we will run an art group from our local community centre using recycled materials/ products. The goal would be to display the creative works of our members to the community at a local gallery and in coffee shops. Members will be taught and encouraged to re use household items in their artistic work and to appreciate the benefits in recycling and its effect on the environment and planet The group members feel isolated and are not always able to articulate their feelings so art is a way of getting them to speak and demonstrate their feelings and the emotions attached. The project will run 2 hours weekly for 3 months and end with an event at a local gallery.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It engages the group members on a therapeutic level to express themselves and appreciate the work they have created. Educates members on re using products and the value of recycling Develops a good attitude and lifestyle of looking after the environment and not creating unnecessary waste It is an inclusive event and enables socialising with the wider community and bringing some creativity to be appreciated by others A powerful voice for those suffering with mental health through art
Steps to get it done:
It is empowering for the members on many levels in that they can be heard and educate others through art on the isolation felt by people with mental health. Gives and promotes a sense of responsibility to the environment and protecting it. Showcasing of work
