The Henfield Hall is a charity entirely owned by the people of Henfield. Its income comes from hiring the 4/5 rooms. Local not for profit groups pay a special rate but we need to attract commercial bookings to be viable. Many potential clients appreciate the large hall but not the current condition. The roof of the main Hall has leaked over a number of years. We have struggled to resolve the problem and are at last ready to replace the roof and start fundraising to renovate the space. The Hall is used for entertainment, lectures and numerous events such as parties and weddings. The curtains on the large stage are inevitably an integral part or the backdrop to most of these events. The current curtains have faded to an intermediate colour and are very tatty. New curtains would be a focal point that would enhance the experience of the regular users and attract the important commercial bookings we need

• A smart looking hall with a stage to attract commercial groups

Why it's a great idea:

The Henfield Hall is the centre of the village and many of the areas have been updated by volunteers over recent years. The main Hall is one of the largest in the area and can accommodate more than 300 seated. The trustees have struggled to resolve the problem of a new roof that leaked from day one but have been advised that, due to contractual anomalies, suing would have been too risky for us to pursue . We now have sufficient funds to redo the roof and are raising money to upgrade the interior. For any large Hall the stage is the focal point and new curtains will enhance the renovation project and potentially increase the bookings to ensure the Hall can be enjoyed by the people of Henfield for many years
