St Peter's Primary School in Budleigh Salterton is a brilliant, engaging, positive environment for children aged 3- 11...the school has an absolute passion to develop a love of reading in all children but due to quick expansion, the old library is now a valuable classroom.
We are desperately keen to develop a shell of a disused building into a fabulous creative space for the whole community.
The project is going to cost £40,000 which will cover brand new structural support, doors, windows, new heating, new electrics, meeting rooms, intervention rooms, furniture, shelving and of course lots of books!
The space will have a reconfigured outdoor space and be an entity where the whole community can benefit from a fabulous creative space.
What we'll deliver:
- Lots of books!
- Complete new heating system
- Complete rewiring of existing shell
- New furniture, lighting and shelving
- New internal stud walls and doorways
- New windows and doors
Why it's a great idea:
To enable children to read is to give them a life long skill in whatever field they enter - this is why we are so passionate that this fabulous school has a library.
This new space will also be available to the whole community to hold arts and music events, to use as business space and to network between all members of our lovely town.
Steps to get it done:
- Buy a lot of fabulous books!
- Creating a beautiful internal space with paints and artwork
- Installing exciting stimulating furniture to make reading fun!
- Redesigning outside space for children, planting flowerbeds, installing seating areas for reading
- Clear internal areas of existing shell
- Rewire, plumb and heating installed
- Studwork erected to provide internal meeting rooms, intervention space and community areas
