The space we have in mind is large but has gone unused for 3 years and is in an excellent location on Station Road. The space is to be one separated studio space and the rest with a movable cafe bar and plenty of moveable seating and calm and welcoming ambience. Staffed by volunteers and a few full-timers.The space is primarily a place for people to connect, providing a large calm space to meet in the middle of frenetic Wood Green, whilst having yoga and other mind body fitness dedicated space also to enjoy which maintains the calm feel and conducive to engendering community connections.Club hire provide additional income in addition to class revenue. The space is multifunctional with use for pop-ups in the evenings, local cinema club screenings and performance. Women, mothers and older people have no places to meet in Wood Green, this prevents local co-ops, groups and connections forming and we aim to provide a safe space as its primary civic function in an area needing harmony.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Wood Green is one of the most diverse areas of London culturally. Increasingly with regeneration and start-up investment, rising rents, there is lots of change to the area but local people have no where everyone feels welcome and can just relax (non-alcoholically) We would like to test a pop up yoga studio wellbeing cafe to give a home to people looking for a space to rest, relax and regenerate through these dynamic times.
