The location for this project is still being decided. Pledges will not be collected unless a location is granted.

Property prices in London are astronomical, which means that without an huge amount of cash and skills behind you, it's nearly impossible to start a business. We want to make it easier for local people and help them to build up their resources so they can get on with their businesses.

We'll do this by re-purposing a piece of land to build a creative, exciting, innovative, artistic destination for people to come and visit and participate in our community. We will create the right environment for high quality innovative food businesses that cater for both the local and wider community and draw people to our end of New Cross.

What we'll deliver:

  • Decorate the site and create a welcoming and vibrant atomosphere
  • Make sure that units and the site are secure when we aren't there
  • Make use of a temporarily vacant site to maximise the potential of our area
  • Market the space to newcomers and potential business owners
  • Build a series of timber structures to house new businesses.
  • Pay for the first years worth of insurance
  • Support local people to gain entry into a commercial environment
  • Work within the community to make sure the project is responsive and meeting local needs

Why it's a great idea:

This project has huge potential to be of benefit to local people and neighbouring businesses and projects. By creating a high quality and creative civic space we will bring new life and energy to our area, and because we are a group based in the community, we can ensure that it is always working for the benefit of the local population.

Steps to get it done:

  • Begin marketing and promotion
  • Create the stage
  • Decorate and light the site
  • Open the space to the public
  • Secure the site and create a nice frontage
  • Build the units for new businesses to occupy
  • Get businesses on site!
