By Charlton Manor Primary School
We wish to create a health hub for the community where children and adults can visit to access cookery, sport and grow food. There will be many opportunities to improve health and well-being on site.

Charlton Manor School havs been at the forefront of educational provision in Greenwich for many years for children with regard to food growing, healthy heating and lifestyle choices, fuelled by the serious and exceptionally high rates of childhood obesity. The school has a very strong track record with its award winning community garden, training kitchen and dining area where children learn about food, cultivate fruits and vegetables, cook and sample quality nutritious food every day, all within the national curriculum. The Head Teacher, along with the staff team have long had a vision to scale up their existing school facilities to establish an exemplar off-site provision with large community garden, classroom, kitchen, and eating area for use by primary and secondary children from schools across the borough of Greenwich and beyond. The Bardhill site in New Eltham, which is 13 acres, will allow the School to bring this dream into reality for the benefit of children and adults.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
There are so many opportunities to use this project to deliver the requirements of the national curriculum in a creative and innovative way that also ensures that children are becoming happier and healthier. Schools in the inner city are often particularly restricted for space for the type of activity we wish to deliver at the site. We have a proven track record of delivering these initiatives in an innovative way within the School setting but now wish to roll these ideas out for others to experience in order to enhance the learning experiences of more children. We can reach tens of thousands of children each year if Schools and other organisations are able to visit and experience the opportunities we plan to have on offer. We are so grateful for any support that can be offered to this unique and exciting project. Thank you from all the staff and pupils at Charlton Manor.
