Hackney Bumps skatepark was built in 1986. It has seen no investment since. It is currently a massively under-used public space and needs renegerating. It can become a focal point for the community

Everyone that we have spoken about this project wants to preserve the original layout of Hackney Bumps. The skatepark has a bizarre and unique design, which is a huge part of it’s charm. We are not proposing to demolish the existing structure and build a new skatepark in its place. Our aim is to enhance the design by introducing new obstacles, then to replenish the surface. Investment in our skatepark will create a more attractive place for local residents to try out wheeled sports, promoting good health and active lifestyles within the community. The site is hugely underused and has so much potential. Hackney Bumps can become a focal point for social engagement like the adventure playground opposite or the newly renovated kids playground next door. It would also appeal more to adults who feel that the current playgrounds do not cater for them.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Hackney Bumps has survived over 30 years, but it is now in serious decline and is used alot less than other skateparks in London. The aim of this project is to make sure that Hackney Bumps survives another 30 years, providing the local and skate communities with the opportunity to pursue an active, healthy lifestyle for years to come.
