The project is for the replacement of old equipment with new equipment and surfaces to create a play area for children aged 2-12 years old, with emphasis on young people with disabilities.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Frinton and Walton Town Council(FAWTC) have been interested in refurbishing Great Holland play area since 2015. During the last three years a specification was drawn up and quotations were obtained. The site is on the corner of Pork Lane/Kirby Road, Great Holland. The land that the existing playground and open space is on is owned by FAWTC. FAWTC want to enable more young people to take part in exercise close to where they live. All other play areas are located some distance away and involve a bus or car journey. The existing equipment is very old and quite limited. The new plans will offer a range of equipment most suitable for children aged 2-12 years old, including young people with disabilities who often miss out on the exercise and the enjoyment that play areas offer. Consultations with residents, local playgroups and schools have helped with the design of the project. These groups have made it clear that a refurbished play area at Great Holland would be a great community asset.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Great Holland is a semi-rural area with no other facilities for young people. We also hope that the new equipment will be used by young people with disabilities from areas across the whole Tendring district. An old run down play area will be transformed into a new disability friendly resource for young children from the whole district.
Steps to get it done:
Help include disabled children in play activity in a safe, pleasant environment.
