Our Mission: . Our aim is to to extend our current orchard by producing all our own fruit trees, buying root stock, grafting all fruit trees from our current stock as well as establishing and growing new fruits. Providing courses and training to people to enable them to create and establish community orchards as well as their own . It will involve local people of all ages working together to make a difference by improving the physical environment and promoting healthy living.
Our Vision: To build on our previous project successes within the Community Space Challenge All Ages Programme by developing a network of Social Action Champions with the skills and resources to sustain and replicate this project in other community and green spaces resulting in a a legacy for the future.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Improving the appearance and enhancing physical environment
Developing green spaces
Encouraging community houses, community gardens and individuals to grow their own organic fruit trees
Promoting healthy eating and healthy lifestyles
Provide learning, training and employment opportunities for local people by running courses
Increase people's skills, confidence and self esteem
Provide volunteering opportunities
Promoting community cohesion by encouraging different generations and diverse communities to work together
Provide fun activities and positive outcomes for communities
Promote positive and reduce anti-social behaviours
Steps to get it done:
We want to engage with local people in helping them develop an understanding of their local environment and by taking community action, they can make a huge difference to their local community as well as improving their health and lifetyles.
