In order to create an 'eco-building' we are installing air source heating, LED lighting throughout the whole building and double insulating the roof. As the building is used for youth work throughout the year, both as part of our work in Sunday School and through our annual musical productions, we are improving our facilities by building a room dedicated to our young people which will be used solely for their activities. We have completely re-designed our garden, aiming to fill it full of colour and letting the sunlight pour in to create a well-being garden open to everyone. There is nothing like this in the village and we hope that this will be a place that can be open to the community to provide a place of calm and relaxation.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The new eco-friendly improvements will impact the environment in a positive way and encourage people and other community buildings to follow suit. The contemplation garden will provide a space for anyone in the community who needs a place to reflect and relax. The new room will provide a more flexible space for our youth and will ensure the rest of the building can provide different spaces to hire by other organisations in the community. We are already getting a lot of interest and we have been able to show people around the building and garden to see the progress we are making and the plans we have moving forward.
Steps to get it done:
We want our young people in particular to feel a sense of belonging in our new and improved building, that the space is there for them to use and enjoy. We hope that we can show them that we are invested in their future through our eco-friendly work at Audlem Methodist Church.
