I will be recording the changing space were The Abbey Cinema, Picton Liverpool will be replaced by a brand new Lidl supermarket. The effect it has on the community and the people who live there.

I aim to record photographically the demolition of the deco Abbey Cinema recording the interiors and it's last day on Church St, Picton Liverpool. In its place, Lidl will build a brand new supermarket to service the local population. the project will have a huge influence on the lives of the people who live in the area and I'd like to make this more inclusive and accessible to the community so they feel more involved and can understand what goes into such an enterprise. The progress will be logged on a master website and Instagram pages weekly with still images but small films too, as the development progresses. I want it to be about the people who make it and the people who will use it. Mainly in the form of portraits with testimonials. I'll build a human map of faces and voices of what people think about losing such a beloved old landmark and having it replaced with a much needed new purpose build supermarket. A people's palace of celluloi replaced by a people cathedral of food.

- pop up exhibition in local disused building
Why it's a great idea:
I think it's natural to resist change but once understood and embraced it can be liberating.

I'm a photographer and filmmaker from Liverpool but I spend much of my life in London, New York, and the Middle East. I came home to help my mother as she had Alzheimer's and I've been home now for 10 years. I work shooting mainly portraits here and in London. I love to cycle and open water swim in Brunswick docks as well as cook vegetarian meals.
