I need affordable retail and business space for gifted individuals, who make and wish to sell their own goods locally, fostering their talent and bringing something different to the high street!

I wish to create a showcase to help the many brilliant, talented, highly creative individuals I have come across over the years through my organisation of charitable craft events. I would love to see them able to bring their goods to the high street and be given the chance to sell to the general public in a prime high street location. This would give them a huge sense of pride and purpose and hopefully enable them to earn a living by their own hand. There are literally hundreds of creative, talented individuals out there who will never get the chance to take their handmade products to market because they literally cannot afford to. They are prohibited by vast retail rents and are unable to compete with the major businesses that can afford retail space. Dependent on square footage available, I envisage between 10 - 20 individuals having their own space in the shop. Each individual would 'man' the shop for a day a week, thus negating staffing costs.

Why it's a great idea:
I believe this is a brilliant idea as it helps local talented individuals and those starting out to enter the work place - better still - a creative nest. It creates a wonderful sense of pride and purpose and enables them to earn a living as well as providing something new and different on the high street that locals would enjoy and support - promoting good feeling all round!
Steps to get it done:
Our high street is improving slowly but we are all sick of seeing endless Estate Agents offices springing up every time there is retail space available (as they can afford the ludicrous rentals), the betting shops, nail bars, hairdressers and loads and loads of Charity Shops. What is there to buy? With nothing interesting to buy on our high street/ locally shoppers will continue to flock to retail parks and retail centres. Local talent is what is needed and should be fostered! Local residents deserve the opportunity to be able to shop for something different, handmade and beautiful, not mass produced, imported goods with huge profit margins for the big chain stores!

VolunteerPersonal Objective:
To create a business fostering and supporting local talent - providing a retail outlet for them to be able to take their creations to the high street and public at large, feel a sense of pride and actually make a living by their own hand.
To create a fun and happy working environment for these talented individuals where they have the opportunity to flourish and where my attributes; sunny nature, caring personality, dedication, extensive experience, organisational abilityand excellent communication skills can be fully utilised.
Experience Summary:
I have worked in marketing and public relations for over 20 years, both agency and client side. I’ve managed and handled a vast array of accounts and campaigns over the years and have always enjoyed moving around, either within an organisation or from industry to industry, in order to gain knowledge and experienced in different areas.
Areas of Expertise:
Strategy, planning, project management and implementation, B2B and B2C, creative thinking, design and related processes, product development and launch, business development, events organisation/management, copy writing and editing, public relations, media relations, sales support, sales promotion, collateral development, traditional and digital media.
Attributes:
Proactive, passionate, hardworking, incredibly organised, highly motivated and creative with an entrepreneurial flair and spirit. I can turn my hand to almost anything and am always happy to ‘roll up my sleeves’!
