We are building a new community business hub in Nidd, we require fast broadband to help the initiative grow. The Hub will give access to people from the local community.

Nidd Idea stage

This project is preparing for fundraising. Click Like to show your support, or Follow for updates on this project's journey.

The basic idea is to build a space that will allow the local community in and around north Yorkshire near Harrogate the opportunity to access vital business support services. These will include Internet access, Computer access, Business support and advice services and peer to peer support services. We are based in Nidd on the outskirts of Harrogate and there is little or no support for new business, In a recent online survey we found people as far as Ripon are wanting to connect with us. We have a barn that can be converted into a Hub space for people to be able to hot desk and grow their ideas in a warm and welcoming environment.

What we'll deliver:

  • Fit Broadband
  • Install 10 Hot desk Stations
  • Support 30 Start Up Business Ideas
  • Work With Local Primary Schools To Offer A Basic Rural Business Awareness Course

Why it's a great idea:

It is a great idea because there is no support in the rural areas, we have the experience of running and managing community and private business. We are experts is securing start up funding for local groups. We have a track record of 6 years in this type of industry and have gotten over 75 people back into work in the last 3 years alone. We piloted this idea with our sister group Confianza in Keighley in 2015 and launched 13 new businesses through dedicated support and access to equipment and services. This project will strengthen the local community by offering: 1. Fixed speed broadband 2. Business start up advice 3. Peer to peer support service 4. Diversification for people in the tourist industry 5. Develop young minds through school program 6. Safe and secure work space 7. Access to equipment that would normally be out of reach

Steps to get it done:

  • First business launched
  • Hub Opens
  • Broadband fitted
  • Schools Program commences
