We have tried building up a small fund to make alterations but as with most things something always happens and these projects keep being put back. We would really love to upgrade the kitchen to make it a more usable space and meet food safety regulations so that we can prepare food on site and offer more to the wider community. We run a number of events each week and the flooring has taken it's toll and needs replacing to make it more durable and longer lasting. We also need to redecorate to make the building more appealing to prospective hires/users. We have a number of projects at the planning stage including a Youth Group and a Study Support Group which will all benefit from the above modernisation. We are thinking of supporting the younger members of our community both within the village but also the wider community, so many changes are being made locally that we don't want to be lost in it all so need to make an impact now.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The future of village halls in small villages is not always promising because locals can't maintain them and gain the support needed to cover running costs making the changes we would like will enable lots more people access the facilities we can offer and bring in a more lucrative income to ensure that the building can be maintained for future generations. We hope to provide a service to all members of the community so that older people can get out, younger people have somewhere safe to go and learn new skills. Running different events in the hall including Exercise Classes, Study Support Sessions, Basic Booking Classes are among the things that can be run if the building is modernised.
Steps to get it done:
There is a lot of regeneration going on including Hs2 and Junction 11 which will both have an impact locally so to making the changes needed will hopefully mean we can come together and provide a place to feel safe and welcome within all the chaos.
