Enabling communities to make great projects happen in West Sussex
A cold room is a vital piece of equipment. At Auntie val's we need our cold room to store our fresh produce. Auntie Val's prides itself on using fresh produce that is sourced locally to make their artisan preserves. Auntie Val's is a community not for profit company whose ethos is 'Ability Not Disability'. We enable disabled people by providing training, employment, work experience, Literacy & Numeracy skills and workplace social integration. This leads disabled people into finding employment in the wider business community. To do this we manufacture a range of Artisan jams, marmalades & chutneys. We pride ourselves on the fact that all our produce is free from additives with no 'e's. The money raised from the sales of our products are ploughed back into our business. In addition to the money raised through stock sales, we apply for grants as well as having our own fundraising activities to help with costs of equipment such as stock pots to labelling machines.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
If you support Auntie Val's in their quest to fund the upgrade/repair of their cold room you would be enabling us to store safely a large amount of fresh produce for use in the production of our jam, marmalades pickles & chutneys. Now that we are heading toward summer our larders will soon be inundated with soft fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, peaches, tomatoes and much more. A cold room will enable us to keep the fruits fresher for longer and give us the much needed time to make the products.
Steps to get it done:
About the space
Storrington is a village on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Nestled in the base of the hills is an industrial unit that is Auntie Val's. Storrington Itself has a range of shops from small gift shops, banks and newsagents to a Waitrose Supermarket. There are many little cafes to have a cup of tea and a slice of cake filled with our jams.
