To say thank you to keyworkers, to engage & empower them with the healing power of the arts, we will offer them free tickets to 'Heart Of Hammersmith', a new community production opening Summer 2021
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Heart of Hammersmith will celebrate and tell the stories of the people and community of Hammersmith in an innovative way alongside a team of professional creatives. The production will be led by a group of 15 young people recruited from West London aged 18-25 together with older recruits to create an inter-generational production. While the production is funded by the Arts Council, the project will be enhanced by offering free tickets to an audience made up of our local keyworkers who are the heart of Hammersmith. Working with the Local Council & local NHS Trust, keyworkers, and their families, will be offered free tickets to 'Heart of Hammersmith' to say thank you for keeping us safe and ensuring essential services are maintained during these challenging and unprecedented times. From frontline NHS staff, to care homes and retail workers, we want each keyworker to know how much we value and appreciate their work by offering an exciting night out at the heart of their community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
A community play needs the community to take part and watch it. This project will remove the financial barrier to our local keyworkers to coming and enjoying Heart of Hammersmith - they are the heart of Hammersmith. Free tickets will make this happen. We want to ensure that as many keyworkers as possible visit the Lyric to introduce them to their local cultural space or to reengage with our facilities and programmes to support their well-being and mental health through the power of the arts. This project is a way for the community to thank our keyworkers for their crucial role in the pandemic and give them and their families a night out at the heart of their community. Supporting our keyworkers is a impactful way for the Lyric to empower and enable our local community by bringing people back together, tackling lonliness and isolation and sharing our local stories to better understand one other particularly at this time.
Steps to get it done:
We have successfully fundraised over £50,000 to produce 'Heart of Hammersmith' (from Arts Council England and trusts) and this project will ensure that we can offer free tickets to Keyworkers.
