Wolverhampton Idea stage

This project is preparing for fundraising. Click Like to show your support, or Follow for updates on this project's journey.

The project is to bring people of Wolverhampton from different ethnic background together. The project's idea is to meet, learn and also to remove the stigma of being an immigrant which carries the phobia of being a refugee. In immigrants and refugees is a fear of being stereo typed and labelled which leads to isolation. There is a need to get out of the house and meet some new friends have discussions, share a cup of tea and biscuits or just a laugh.

What we'll deliver:

  • 1 Mental health
  • 2 Loneliness and Isolation
  • 3 Depression
  • 4 Stereo typed
  • 5 Anxiety
  • 6 Eating disorder

Why it's a great idea:

Besides bringing people together, they learn new skills for house wives and also as an occupation. It will remove discrimination, hostility towards each other. The immigrants and refugees also bring new skills with them, which help the community.

Steps to get it done:

  • Buying sewing machines, Computer/printer security, paying for central heating and transport funds.

The project is an occupational and diversional therapy. It also help some refugees to trust and be able to speak freely. I met an illegal woman who was pregnant and reserved. It was though these meetings where she was able to speak up. She was a victim of trafficking and had to escape. Now being pregnant and have nowhere to go and no access to the GP and Hospital. The story was horrifying. But we managed to help her to go to the refugee centre in Wolverhampton, she got the help she needed, not mentioning the throat cancer they found in time. She is a happy woman with a bouncing baby boy. This is the impact of this project.

Overfunding

This project is enabled for overfunding. If the project hits its funding goal before the end of the campaign period, any extra funds raised will be spent (in order of priority) on: There is a lot to take into consideration, such as transport to and fro, some hidden things such as cleaning staff, teas and biscuits for the community, maintenance of the workshop and machines, cutting tables, scissors. Especially with beginners, the machines can easily break. Servicing of the machines all those things are not accounted to. Need to give volunteers transport money. Buying a laptop and security for data protection, also a printer. So I cannot see myself having a target. it is difficult for me to calculate
