Free fun football and fitness training sessions in Camden with lots of training opportunities for a whole year. Most of the young people we work with are from families of refugees or approved asylum seekers. This project will enable the local community to participate in football training sessions and can be directed to play in football leagues, which will enhance their confidence and self esteem. We will organise regular coaching sessions for all standards and to train those interested to be Level 1 and Level 2 qualified football coaches or IT courses to help get into the growing market for football media. The weekly sessions will include a structured football coaching session, small-sided games and fitness training. It is expected that around 40 local people will regularly attend each session. The emphasis is on developing the local person’s concept of teamwork, leadership and self-esteem. After some sessions will be workshops for young people to discuss life and any local issues.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We know from our experience that local people from the local people and wide array of ethnic backgrounds lack language skills, which therefore affects their confidence and self-esteem and ability to fully access mainstream education and existing opportunities. From various evaluations of workshops run by the organisation the information indicate that the majority of our clients who are asylum seekers and refugees suffer a great deal of isolation, they lack activities and endure racism and discrimination and bullying at School. Gang violence is severing on our street and the trend for violence is getting worse as reported in the media. We want to offer a free way out through football or just an opportunity to have some fun and make new friends.
