Whilst providing tin and fresh food for those who need a little support, the project will also provide training to apprentices and volunteers in the cooking of simple food using fresh ingredients obtained from local farms. Once funded, we will seek chefs who can come to our facility to teach cooking of fresh and easy to make dishes. The volunteers and apprentices will learn skills that can enable them find employment that will in turn provide better opportunities for their future. We have plenty of space to help deliver our program. Room description: it is 29 x 29 metres, there is a glass front window with a shutter facing the car park. What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It is a great idea as it will provide food support for people who may otherwise go hungry. People in our community should not go hungry in the 21st century. It will boost confidence of single parents as it will provide cooking skills and help people gain confidence and useful experience. This project will bring people together as it can be a meeting point for members of the community to cook, eat, socialise and get help on a range of issues. The extra rooms that we have can be adapted for different use. This will become a meeting place for people of Laindon who need a helping hand. The work to be done here will transform the Laindon Shopping Centre area as more people will be drawn to the area.
Steps to get it done:
Feed the hungry Provide confidence and acquisition of cooking skills. Within the main office hall, we have a lounge area, which is comfortable and ready to welcome members of the community.
