Our project proposal is to deliver four youth club focused activities in the heart of locations most in need. Each of the following regions will host the youth provision for one evening per week, for two hours and delivered over 45 weeks of the year. - Fleetwood - Cleveleys - Preesall - Garstang Sessions would have a relaxed but disciplined feel to them, with reward and recognition being key ingredients to success. Highly experienced and qualified youth workers and sports coaches would work collaboratively to create positive outcomes for the young people. We envisage sessions having no more than 20 young people, due to the higher risk nature of those engaged from a safeguarding and health and safety perspective. Activities such as Art, Sport, Educational workshops, Cooking and Music will be delivered each week, with a targeted approach specific to the demographic profiling and themes surrounding national topics and international awareness events.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The purpose of the project is to provide young people in each location with a safe space to access purposeful and preventative activity, whilst reducing the risk of youth anti social behaviour (ASB). Within the regions of Preesall and Garstang there is real lack of opportunity available for young people to take part in activities, developing social groups with a wider network of people whilst learning key skills, such as cooking and employability skills. (State of Wyre 2021) Fleetwood has large pockets of deprivation, with the majority of the town being in the top 10% most deprived areas in the country (IMD, 2021). The project will drive further community cohesion with youth led social action supporting community aims of environmental sustainability, culture and heritage and specific community engagement. The youth club's will welcome bi-annual job fairs encouraging local business to engage with young people and explain the skillsets required for each industry.
