We want to triple the size of the skate park In Finsbury Park, North London. It is currently two small bowls and nowhere near big enough to accommodate its users. We want to make it a good size to accommodate the whole community. Make it accessible to wheelchairs, bikes, scooters and skaters. Finsbury Park is a very diverse area with a lot of depravation and we want to give the local community the skate park it needs. We want to bring the community together in a safe, outdoor space and encourage exercise and community building. We want to encourage boys and girls from all backgrounds to exercise and work together to build physical strength, team work, mental resilience and have fun.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The health benefits of skating and biking are very important to physical and mental health. Connecting community in a safe and outdoor environment. Being accessible to wheelchairs to build all round health and community spirit. It will boost the local economy by increasing the foot fall to the park. Skating is now an Olympic sport and a viable career choice. Lots of girls are starting to skate so proving this opportunity in a safe environment is so important.
