Getting Dalkeith Cabinet 57 upgraded to enable fibre broadband for everyone on the Thornybank estate.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
We are currently not eligible for the current government schemes for upgrading areas to fibre optic cabling to our cabinet (FTTC), which would allow us access to Superfast broadband, rather than the 5Mbps I'm getting on a good night. We may get upgraded before 2021 as part of the government's commitment for it to be rolled out to everyone. But that said, we'll be bottom of the pile. I'm in email contact with the Openreach Community Fibre team who have given a quote for the works required.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The broadband speeds are appalling. Even with just me and my other half in the house, let alone if you have a family with multiple devices connected. Having fibre broadband will dramatically increase internet speeds and undoubtedly be more attractive to anyone buying a house in the estate.
