The South Croydon Business Association represents over 100 businesses in Croydon’s Restaurant Quarter, which is a secondary High Street. The majority of these are small businesses from a diverse cultural background.
There is no budget for Festive Lights and the small businesses in the area cannot fund it themselves. We would like to ensure that our busiest annual period has lights. The Croydon BID supplies festive lights to the central commercial are, but this stops just outside the Restaurant Quarter, making the area look bare and forlorn, just at the time of year that businesses need it to look bright and festive.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Because it is so necessary for the survival of the small businesses that are in the area. We have achieved so much to help the High Street to thrive in the last 3 years, but the lack of festive lighting at a time of year when we should be attracting as much retail trade as possible is a big problem. We hope to be able to keep the High street alive with the lighting at Christmas
